Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure you have heard rumblings about one type of detox or another. While personally I’m terrified of trying the latest concoction from Pressed Juicery (the green machine is where I draw the line) or trying to sustain on a water cleanse for days on in, I am always looking for a good way to detoxify.
What better time to try something new then the start of Lent? Fresh off the heels of giving up alcohol, I can’t think of a more perfect time to rid my body of toxins it otherwise may be holding onto.
Scouring the Internet for a healthy way to cleanse without compromising daily nutrition, I stumbled upon Jillian Michaels detox water recipe. The water is said to help you shed five pounds of water weight in seven days while promoting digestion and detoxification. My favorite thing about this particular recipe is that it’s made from natural ingredients and isn’t harsh on the body. The taste is so refreshing, it’s like accessorizing your daily water intake.
Ingredients:
- 60 oz. (7.5 cups) distilled or pure water
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 tbsp. natural, sugar-free cranberry juice
- 1 dandelion root tea bag (I use Yogi brand detox tea)
Combine all ingredients in a pitcher and stir. Keep tea bag in mixture until it is finished. Drink 60 oz. every day for seven days.

Did you eat when you doing the detox??
Yes, but I “ate clean”. 2 servings of probiotics before 2 pm(I adore Good Belly watermelon and cranberry juice), 2 servings of fruit before 2pm (usually a cutie and apple), mix green spring salad with feta and strawberry vinaigrette for lunch, grilled chicken or baked chicken with small side salad for dinner, drinking green tea with each meal in addition to the detox. Happy Detoxing!
So did this work for you? I plan on trying this today, and I’ve heard some positive reviews…
